After reading Chad (CMPenneys) accidental success and Um_fish's similiar experience, and know how Tropicorium breeds their banggais its got me thinking of doing something similar. I have room for a 48x18x18 tank under one of my FW tanks. Id like to throw around ideas with everyone here. I am crazy for thinking this may work? Im thinking a 70 gallon tank (48x18x18) with as much live rock as i can pile in there (to be added gradually since i cant afford 200 lbs right off the bat). Some macro algae in one end with a light over it and starting with a group of 4-6 cards. The only real problem i see is harvesting them, im pretty sure what ever grows up in that setup would be stuck in that setup unless i removed a great deal of rock to net them out.

you can always set up fake long spine urchins instead of the live rock.

I forgot about those, its been awhile I still like the idea of a pile of rock for those tiny critters our fish love to eat, but a pile of those would be nice to throw in as well. Does anyone know if banggais prey on there young after a certain amount of time?

That I'm not sure on, but I'll follow along. I know the daddy can gulp them down if he's startled. I would imagine if the fry weren't hiding they would though.

I've read that the female will eat the young as they are released from the males mouth, and that the male will join in on the feeding after a short time (hours or day).

Caesra is doing something similar in a 150 gallon tank. Check out his journal maybe...?
