Wow, just lucked out. A local breeder going out of hobby just sold me these, and a bunch of other stuff for short money. I was literally about to hit purchase on the PVC stackables.

I made mine myself with old plastic containers and mesh. Sounds like you lucked out.

I like the PVC ones from FAF that are 8" tall or so. I find those sieve "dishes" too shallow. I end up spilling lots.
Don't let fear and common sense stop you! =]

Thinking of making my own sieves for filtering out uneaten food from larvae and growout tanks using a couple of pieces of Tupperware and nylon mesh sieves in a setup that I can just slip into the outlet from the tanks. I got a lot of inspiration from an article on breeding inverts (link below) and the filtering system could be used for raising fish, too, by using an appropriately sized mesh to separate the larvae from the upper 1" of the tank. This allows you to install an overflow type outlet, which keeps the surface skimmed, gives you higher gas exchange rates and allows me to install bio filtration as well as UV sterilization. I know this article has gone around quite a bit, but I personally think it's a setup that could be used for multiple breeding applications: A_rearing_system_for_the_culture_of_ornamental_decapod_crustacean_larvae And another link for nylon mesh sieves: componentsupplycompany.com

Nice. Very nice. As soon as you guys do have some sieves available, please drop me a pm or reply on the thread. Will they be circular or will you have different shapes available?

They will be circular. Andy Rhyne is building them for us, so you know they are pretty much the best you can get... they've been field tested for 10 years or so They arrive next week, then I need to get them labelled and packaged, which I haven't figured out yet I'll post here when they are ready for sale.
