One other fun fact: I can find the watchman larva without a flashlight if the water is slightly clear!

Renaming the tubs: Tub 1 is the watchman tub, Tub 2 is the new tub with damsels and rubys only.

The watchman is starting to dislike the flashlight. It darts across the tub when I shine it on him/her. Getting bigger with a reddish hue to the eye and the middle spot. Sure wish i could find NicoleC's postings on RC about this species. She was attempting C. cinctus when I was starting out with clownfish a million years ago, and had a thread-of-the-month award in the fish breeding forum. Anyone have her contact info?

I found her threads by searching for NicoleC rather than NicholeC. What fun! Watchman larva still doing well, eating, being a good citizen with all its neighbors. I just fed the tub RGgreen, and called it a night.

Kathy, You better get some sleep soon or you'll be worn out before the Workshop! Sounds like you'll have lots to talk about.

Day 17: I clearly saw the watchman doing its darting and swimming this morning, looking fine. I could not find it this evening. I searched and searched. I found the damsel larvae a couple of times, but I began to despair that the watchman was no more. I don't know what possessed me, to scan the sides of the tub, but there it was, adhered to the side, hopping around at times, but seemingly settled. It does still look like a larva, but it is opaque like the oceanops gobies get just before meta. I had thought that meta was weeks away, but maybe copepods make a difference for watchmans and they grow faster. We'll probably know tomorow if this is the beginning of meta or just a stage before death, but I think the larva looks healthy. We'll see.

I just found this on the Breeders' Registry: " ...The Yellow Prawn goby, Cryptocentrus cinctus, has also been reported to the Breeder’s Registry database. Information is not as complete for this species, but the pair was maintained in captivity for 2 years and were moved to a new tank 6 months before spawning. No physical differences were notated aside from the possibility of size which was 80 – 90 mm (~3 – 3.25 inches). Hatching was typical, occurring after dark. The larvae were ~2.0 mm in length and some yolk sac was visible. The larvae were fed with rotifers enriched with SELCO. After the first week the larvae settled to the bottom of the tank. At day 15 Artemia nauplii and copepoda were introduced (again enriched with SELCO). Metamorphosis occurred at 20 – 25 days and high mortalities were experienced. ..." So I'm not too far off thinking that meta may be starting, even at day 17. Or death. http://breedersregistry.org/maquaculture/gobies/

I found him yesterday morning but not evening, and not this morning. Oh well, there are more eggs coming, and perhaps next time I'll get more than one to live.

The last two look like the line of spots could be indicating a spinal column. If you imagine real well, you might see flexion.

Both gobies settled now. When my breeder box comes in, I'll transfer them to a real tank. Can't justify the real estate for a BRT housing two tiny juveniles. Also can't see them readily.
