I finally do. I moved them today, and finally got a good look at them. The bigger one was more bothered by the transfer and acclimation, but the little guy seems to roll with the punches. Little One is more yellow, Big Guy is a little grey. That may just be stress. Pix in a little while.

After aclimation and transfer to the lovely breeder basket from FAF: The little guy retained his color: better than the bigger one:

The nice thing about the breeder basket, aside from being able to see them well, is that I can see them eat. Thankfully, they are eating Otoheim B1 and the Argent shrimp feed that I happen to have on hand. Previous to this move, I was not sure what they were eating, since brine shrimp were breeding in the BRT and there were leftover copepods, though I think the rotifers had died off by the end.

Their color is so different they almost look like two different species. Or is that just the lighting?

Thanks Jake, Dave, I agree they look like different species, partly because of the color and partly because the grey one is so much more developed than the yellow one. The only other species I had in the tub was a damsel , IIRC, and these guys are surely watchmans.

In addition, rumor has it that the grey could be an indication of gender, grey being female. There is also the observation that the grey ones are the bigger ones of a batch. Another observation is that the color can switch back and forth. However, the broodstock pair for the eggs I am using are both yellow. Gobies are known to switch sex back and forth, but I can find no definative source of info about the watchmans by google.

Got a new batch of eggs. They came on two strands. One strand hatched sometime today into the methylene blue, and the thousands of larve mostly died. In the other strand, thousands died in the egg, and some were clearly unfertilized. So again, I got about 25 survivors, and I'll add them to the BRT this evening with Isochrysis and Parvocalanus. We shall see. They may have some G. okinawae larvae in with them, if those eggs hatch tonight.

I think I ran out of luck this time. I can't find any survivors. Had I been home when the thousands hatched, I would have been able to rescue them from the crowded conditions that likely did them in. Gonna have to rethink this one.

No, sadly, I have zero from the latest batch, 2 from the earlier one, very cute, one gray, one yellow, see pix above. Next week will be 60 days. I suppose it is possible these two will mate, and then I'll get the full MBI credit, but I continue to look for a good adult pair.

I was waiting for the 60 day report before I move these guys to a new home, different tank, as we are re-doing the basement. Snapped a picture for the 60 day report, and I'll be dag-nabbed, if the gray one is turning yellow. Still has the light blue tips on the dorsal fin...

They have both grown like weeds. Their full bellies are ever present. I've enjoyed these so much, I wouldn't mind owning a spawning pair. If I can't find one in time, perhaps these two will fill that bill.
