Worst picture of the pair ever. At least it shows the female carrying eggs. They are due to hatch in the next few days, Ill get some better pics once they have hatched. Note: male has no claws as he dropped them when being moved into the tank. He has since moulted and has claws again.

This is a fun shrimp. I once had a big female and a small male, and the male would hitch a ride on her back all over the tank. He seldom strayed from his perch. People who came over were fascinated by it.

Slightly better picture of the pair Female with more eggs, there are eggs hanging from underneath the female in strands, 8-10 long. I couldn't get a shot of them though as they hide with any amount of light that the camera needs.

That's a nice pair. I once had a pair where the size difference was so pronounced that the male rode around the tank on the back of the female, it was quite entertaining to see. They still have large claws so it doesn't look like they have lost any through shipping and handling. I've found that once they lose one, the successive molts never produce claws as large as the original. Good luck with these.

With my S. scutellatus, I found I had the best survival early on if I fed them rotifers through the first three zoeal stages. I start adding nhbbs earlier than that, but keep rotifers around up to/through Z3.

I have missed it twice now.

I finally managed to collect a hatch from these guys last night. For some reason I have kept missing them. It looks like this was just an initial few eggs as the female still has not molted as of this morning and is still carrying most of the eggs. Fry in catcher Group of fry Close up Video of the fry with some good shots of movement and the "spike" on their backs. Note: Also quite a bit of shrimp out of picture, sorry
