Is it possible? Seems like I see ones carrying eggs all the time. Can they be reared?

Yes. From my understanding.... I really want to try it too... When I bought mine, one has a bunch of eggs....but, they were probably eaten....

There is a book I've been looking for, "How to raise & train peppermint shrimp"....

Check out MOFIB, they have a section on it...

Good luck.... and if your going to set up and try it.... Keep me in mind when your sucessful...

I recall Matt saying something about that book at the conference now.

Hmmm..Considering everything going on at MOFIB I was hoping to avoid going there.

Has Matt Pedersen breed them himself?

I've never hatched Brine Shrimp before so that will be new to me but otherwise I should have everything else I need.

I can use my Coral QT for now to raise them and keep the adults in one or both of my isolation tanks.

Was going to have April kirkendoll who wrote the peperment shrimp book speak at our club back in 2002.  Maybe she should be considered as a future speaker?

I've had Cleaner Shrimp babies in my tank for a while that were about a quater of an inch.  If you get some nice thick algae going they shrimp will take refuge in that and grow out.  Most of the time I keep a bunch of shrimp to add to my live food in the tank.  I use to have shrimp releasing babies about every third day and I would sit and watch my fish hover over them and pick of the babies one by one.

if i am ever able to get time , i'm going to build one of those larval snagglers.  looks pretty easy, if you can find the mesh (most recommend checking out fabric stores, like Joann's) and you have the acrylic and weldon.  i'd mostly be building it to catch my baby bangaii's, but you catch a lot of other stuff, too.

So you just had them in your display or do you move the female to a seperate tank just before they hatch.

Are you refering to turf algae Scott? I wish I could get some to grow in my fuge. The stuff makes a great nursery for Pods too. I've even bought rocks that have some on is at my LFS and it all dies on me.

I was thinking of keeping the adults in a tank that is connected to my system but Isolated from the others Something easy to catch them out of. Then a few days before hatch I'd move the female to a 10 gal bare bottom tank with a bunch of pvc elbows in the bottom.

That's my thinking at least.

Yes I'm refering to Turf Algea.  The stuff is like a brillo pad!   I had Turf Algea Growing in one of the back corners of my main display tank.   If your not careful with it, it can get out of control and cover everything. I never tried to remove the female to actually rear the babies to full term as I just liked to have them for an added live food source.  One of these days I might actually try to rear them.  But there are so many fish out there I want to try to breed.

I know how you feel. I have a laundry list of projects including breeding that I'd like to get going. I just need to pull the trigger on one.
