Tal, I think maybe my pair upstairs in my 29G tank may be getting close to spawning. The reason I say this is they have been cleaning like crazy. It all started on Sunday night, I placed the two Candy Canes that you brought over, on the far right side just under the rock the clowns hang in, and that night they (candy canes) were moved. Put them back the next day after work, later that night moved again. Put them back last night and kept an eye on them, and sure enough here's the male moving it off again.  So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe soon.

Think I should throw in a pot, or just leave as is?

I just shot some video of these guys.

I think the second one has some pretty good views near the end... considering my cam...

This one got siphoned out today while I was cleaning the tank so I decided to snap a few pics.  Five days old and showing the first stripe.

That's so cool, five days and it's already obvious that they're clowns. Much faster swimmers than I would have guessed.

They are crazy fast swimmers at such a young age... guess they have to be to survive.

I know.  It's amazing how quickly they grow at this stage.  This little one was really hard to catch, even though I was using a clear acrylic turkey baster to get him out of the bucket.

The parents have spawned again.  Must have been yesterday since I kinda took the day off and didn't pay attention.  This has them on about a 15 day cycle... that's going to be tough to keep up with!  But, I'm not complaining.

Are you able to count dorsal rays yet?  What about differentiating the perc vs. occy in these guys?

I saw that thread on mofib, and the last person who i read that was breeding these noted for the most part they looked like percs.

Still too small for me to count.  It should be interesting to see who they resemble more.

Yes, all 3 batches have moved up to dry food.  I still toss in some enriched brine for variety.  From what I've heard, it's best to get them off brine ASAP.  The full Percs are growing a bit slower than these and the Occys.

LOL, there are even more in the Occy tank/videos I just posted.  The Occys have started the "balling" behaviour, I expect these guys to start that soon.

That's so cool Tal, I'm glad to see all your efforts paying off! It's amazing how quickly these little guys start looking like mini adults.

Thanks Mike.  It is really cool to see how fast they grow.  Check out the 18 day old Occys over here: http://www.masm.org/mforums/tm.aspx?m=24421&mpage=3

I shot this vid to compare my Occys and Hybrids.  The O's are 21 days old and the Hybrids are 17.  The hybrids seem to be a bit bigger today.  The O's still have better color but the Hb's are striping up quickly.

(Before anyone says anything, my finger is in the frame to give a bit of scale )

I was just going to move the O's into the 20G today or tomorrow but the Hb's look big enough to move too.

I was looking at old threads and saw that I haven't updated this one in a whille.  All of the Percularis offspring have been sold(except 1) and I haven't tried to raise anymore since the origina; batch since there isn't much market for them.

The parents are still spawning regularly and I got them on video last night.

I am planning on selling the pair either as is, or paired up with juveniles of their own species.

They hybrids are actually called "Percularis" with only one L and they're not unheard of!

The most famous Percularis that I know of comes from Dr. Sanjay Joshi who bred the "Photon" clown.  He mixed an onyx perc with a darwin occy and came up with a pretty cool hybrid.  Here's an article on them if you're curious...

Yup, you're right about the spelling... I got it right in the last post, just not in the title.
