Banggai Cardinal Breeding Manual - Wednesday, October 28, 2009 7:57 PM

For anyone interested in breeding Banggai:

Here is the breeding manual.  I cannot attest to its accuracy, however as the product of a government funded operation, I suspect it is very good.

That is a great manual.  It's the one that got me thinking about raising them outside during the summer.  Considering the weather we had it's a good thing I didn't try it this summer.

This looked like a nice place to put Banggai Q and A's.

Q#1:  What are the downsides to keeping baby banggai's with their parents for grow-out?

They can end up as food.  Depends on the environment of the tank. If there are enough places for the babies to hide they might do alright. I haven't tried it.

This is the style setup that they use at the Trop. Just throw a bunch of Banggers in a big tank with lots of LR and Cheato and let nature take it's course.

I'm actually hoping to get to this point myself with a 150gal Agritub.

Well, if you separate them out, there is still a concern about general biological waste.  But honestly, the biomass of a single brood is so small, and you'll start out feeding them Baby Brine, which doesn't die or rot so it doesn't pollute on the same level.
