Alrighty, equipment is all clean and set for another run!! Unfortunately a re-aquascape of the broodstock tank has thrown my pair out of whack... they look to be finally getting ready again. This time (whenever it may be) I will be testing a new snagger design with a single updraft and cross pipe, I dont think that the extra cross pipe and downdraft pipe (inverted U) design is really needed for more robust species. the original intent of the inverted U was twofold, it allowed me to sink the collection bottle lower and it also acts as a "trap" when running the device under a very very low flow. This was all well and good for some reasons but I think it cut the efficiency of the snagger down quite much, and of course made the whole thing larger (space constraints within and above the tank cause this to be a pain). This will be my second run of the new design which consists of a square collection cup and the inlet from the side instead of the top. The first run had amazing success despite not having the LED mounted at the updraft pipe (flashlight was used). This time we've got the LED ready to go as well. I'll update when it happens!

lol.... non viable batches lately unfortunately I fear my pair is getting old bugs the heck outta me since I've got the new snagger design ready, though I have a pair of blacks that are going through the routine, just not adult enough yet. Good thing I'm patient...

Too old? Nah... I think it was Hubert Chan that posted a 25 y/o Tomato clown that was still going strong.

eh still not sure why the batches havent been viable, they lay smaller clutches now with little to no fertilization... the eggs are gone within a few days. Kinda a bummer considering my main goal is testing equipment repetitively and not breeding clowns... so far I'm a flunkie at all my current breeding attempts, these guys and the lawnmower... *sniff*

Feed your parents more. That's the usual problem.

Yeah, but you feed all that small, swimmy stuff. That can't be good for them.... Have you started the mysis cultures yet?

Check the temperature. Mine started laying smaller nests, and appeared to eat them. When I found out the temp was 86, I realized they were not getting eaten, they were hatching at 4-5 days. Got back to 80 and a 7 day incubation.
