Flared Gill covers in Clownfish

What is the cause of flared gill covers in clown fish. ?  I always seem to end up with several that show this.  Its more prominent in fish when they are young, but as they grow to adult size it seems to be a lot less prominent.

LOL, what Scottt said.  It's all water quality and diet   I'm a real big fan of Witt's concepts of new larval rearing setups and pushing for the concept of flow-through larval rearing.  It's a strong departure from more ingrained techniques, but it makes a lot of sense.
