I think they spawned today.  Normally both chow down breakfast lunch and dinner.  Today, one wouldn't eat lunch.  Also, the one who would eat kept following the other, almost harassing.  The one who ate also had some stringy stuff hanging out at dinner, where the eggs are normally released.

The Male(?) kept trying to eat dinner, but he wouldn't get the food into his mouth.

An update.   Male held eggs for less than 24hrs.  He ate again the next morning.  Hope he does better next time!

Spawned April 4th.  I didn't see the event, but when I went to feed them Monday morning noticed it.  The males jaw is huge!  He seemed much calmer this time, well they both did.  The female wasn't harassing the male this time.  Also, the male understood that he couldn't eat, so he just hung out while I fed the female.

Should I separate the two with egg crate?  Or leave them together?

Well, the male ate the eggs today, 3 days in.  He looked sorry about it, still refusing food at lunch.  His jaw looked noticeably smaller though.  I'll give him 1 more shot, then its my turn to try :-)

That's a bummer. I've always kept my pair together while eggs were being held. It did take several tries before he got the hang of it.

I try to make sure that the male gets plenty to eat while he's not holding so that he's ready for the next try.
