I started with 8-10 individuals of this species one year ago and have now sold or given away over 400 individuals in addition to them populating every tank in my system (> 1,400 gals. worth of tanks). I really need to remove 200-300 more at the moment. I'm thinking of trying to breed clubber mantis shrimp at this point, just for something to do with the excess snails.

A fantastic little snail for a beginner breeder.

Sure. They are fairly large, though.

These eggs are just a few minutes old:

Early larval development:

Here the have suddenly become veliger larvae. (The velar lobes are the "Mickey Mouse" ears on gastropod larvae. The are heavily ciliated and are used for swimming and food capture.) The shell is also forming.

Later stage veligers. Note that the shell is onto its second whorl.

And here, all but one of these snails have made the jump to become juveniles. The velar lobes have pulled together to make a feeding tube. This is what makes these snails so easy to breed. Most snails don't get to this stage while still in the egg casing.

The plug has come off of the egg case and snails are making their escape. The inset photo is a juvenile on the glass.

One of the adults snails:

And one of the mama snails putting eggs on the glass. It's pretty cool how she bends her foot back on itself to get off the eggs without harming them.
