Re:breeding journal, pecies: sepia bandensis (dwarf cuttlefish) - Monday, May 3, 2010 7:27 PM
i'm guessing, at this point, the two larger cuttles are the females (wishful thinking, maybe?) as they don't show signs of fighting as two males would.  the smaller of the three is much more elusive and is frequently displaying darker, harsher colors.

i believe i caught the first love affair on film .. see below.

one of the "ladies"

the "male" making his entrance, demanding attention

the "male" keeping watch on the "ladies"

it's love!  or is it?

that first date glow

the other "lady" wasn't getting enough attention apparently, time to show off.

oddly enough, the darker of the two is the "female" immediately after having her quality time with the "male" .. she went back to the other "female" to brag.

she's got her eye on you!

i'm convinced that i do, in fact, have two females and one male cuttle now.  the male has mated with both females and has very distinct character differences than they do.  he's very elusive, not nearly as social or nosy as the girls tend to be.  also, he's much smaller in size.

in about a week it'll be time to start watching for eggs .. fingers, toes and eyes are crossed!  i want babies!!

Good luck.  That will be pretty neat if you get a cuttle hatchery going
