second image is an attempt to take a pic with my microscope. i need to work on the lighting a bit..
 
once i get my rotifers going again, i'll give these a serious attempt. I've already got many micro shells collected.

I also want to note that this hermit is likely a female. I looked at a few other hermits and only found one other that had the fuzzy area which the eggs are in. other hermits had no fuzzy area at all, which I assume are males.

This is really cool. I remember reading in "How to raise and train your peppermint shrimp" that they had successfully bred and raised larvae for some time but never got them to settle.
 
Has anyone got them past that point?

I found photos on a german website a long time ago that showed the final stage of the hermit crab and the newly settled crab in a shell.

I've still got a ton of micro shells handy from my snail experiments if anyone else attempting this  needs.
 
Very very excited to see this one, should be interesting to watch for sure!!
