Cool looking juveniles
I like the in focus one in the lower right with a white cap from the middle bar to the head stripe and the onyx coloring
Your breeding journal says picasso......it looks like a platinum variant?  or is the other side barred?

hmmmm maybe I need a platinum to get more oddball markings hehe.

Yeah...I love Doni how you're calling this one a Picasso..it really looks like a full on Platinum with some slight pullback from the real threshhold...like AAA Picasso.  Honestly though, I think that's probably genetically what we'd call a
"Platinum".  Again, just guessing.

Now here's the big question, are you getting ANY Platinums out of that pairing?

I ask, because if not, it lends an incredible amount of credence to the genetics of Picasso / Platinums being some sort of multi-gene continum or codominance thing.  I.e.

XXX = Regular Perc
YXX = "B Grade Picasso"
YYX = "A Grade Picasso"
YYY = "Platinum".

Or perhaps better thought of as :

XX + XX = Regular Perc
XX + XY or XY + XX = Regular Perc with hidden Picasso genetics
XY + XY or XX + YY or YY+ XX = B Grade Picasso
XY + YY or YY + XY = A Grade Picasso
YY + YY = Platinum

IDK..there was another way I thought of this at some point as well, but I think you get what I'm suggesting.  It is interesting that Platinums show up out of Picasso Parings but doesn't seem that they're showing up in pairings like yours (but you obviously get a lot of Picassos).

This is very interesting. I too, would like to hear if any Platinums are being produced.

Also, not to get off topic but, has anyone bred two Platinums together yet? I'm planning on it but it will be a while until they are old enough.

I assume ORA will get to do it before anyone else does.  I would guess they're just going to produce nothing but Platinums...??

Actually, the male shown is offspring of my picasso/picasso pair. Some of their offspring have a lot of white. Moreso than the normal picasso variant but NOT solid white like ORA's platinums.  I call any of these extra white picassos, snowcassos.

This wild caught onyx female and snowcasso only produced less than 1% of grade A. Most were normal striped or grade B.

On the other hand, this same snowcasso male named "UNO" is currently paired with another snowcasso female and they are producing a large percentage of platinums (solid white).
