I've read that a guy had some issues with the larva all crowding in one area of a large tank and he was experiencing a lot of deaths.  He wasnt sure if they were just killing each other or maybe eating each other.

So he separated them and the same thing happened but less deaths. Once the #'s got down even more, they deaths stopped. He was saying if he could have separated them even more in the same tanks to use up the space, it would have worked even better.

So Im going to try to take a tank and cut it up into as many pieces as I can.

It's a very cool thing (apparently) if you can create an environment that'll distribute the larvae around evenly and safely. The pros in Europe that are doing these are using larval containers that are rounded cones on the bottom. Then they pipe water down the center of the container close to the bottom. The idea is to try to get a gyre-type flow all the way around the container. You have to be really careful with the environment on these because their limbs are fragile and will break off. Good luck!

By the way, rots are probably too small. They could use BBS and copepods if you have them.

Andy, do you have any more info on this? Images / links / anything?  That sounds pretty cool and you already have my heads spinning some ideas, but would love some more info.

Im sure as you know, the info on most shrimps is SLIM to none.

Thanks,

Adam

There's a paper by Andy Rhyne floating out there somewhere that has some more information. I'll look for it. In the meantime, here's this:

Also, head out to your library and check out this book (or make them interlibrary loan it to you): http://www.amazon.com/Marine-Ornamental-Shrimp-Aquaculture-Conservation/dp/1405170867/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1286421759&sr=1-1-fkmr2

Does anyone know if they release their eggs at night or durning the day, or is it random?

Do they have to molt in order to release the eggs or do they just release them normally?

The hatch / molt is near. They eggs changed color yesterday and they now have tiny little black eyes.

I will watch for a molt tonight for a couple of hours. If everything goes well, but I am not able to catch any of them because the molt happens at some weird time of the night, I will catch them and place them in their own tank to hatch, as designed in once of the thread posted above.
