A lot has happened since my last post.
A promotion at work had taken me away from attempting to raise fry for some time. And towards the end of my break I made the decision to repair my spawning female with a year old Black Ice male. I made that swap in January. By the end of February the pair spawned. The male being new to spawning did eat several of the fry but did allow some viable eggs to go to term.
We (my wife and I) opted to go ahead and try to raise those fry as well as the next two clutches after. From the first clutch we had approximately 30 hatch which are now approximately 60 days of age followed by a clutch of 60 which are now approximately 50 days and the third clutch of 150 which are now approximately 40 days.
We since skipped a few hatches as we worked out grow out systems for the fry we had and then this last Friday had our most successful hatch yet - hatching out the entire nest of 250+ fry who are currently on day 2 and going strong.
I've been keeping a detailed record of the journey on Nano-Reef which is what I consider my home site - or at least the site that I started with.
