They must be happy if you got them to spawn and the previous owner didn't.

Updated the journal with hatch information.  Very small and rather pathetic hatch.  I am having problems with hatch rates both with this nest and with my O's.  Not sure why.  This is a pic of a larvae that didn't make it.  Not sure if he died last night or today.

My lone survivor has now made it past the 60 day post hatch mark.  He was housed in his own breeder net for the past two months and it may have contributed to his slow growth.  I have seen this with a few fish now, they seem to grow better when they are in a school rather than solitary or with only one or two tank-mates.  This little guy is now in with a batch of ocellaris so hopefully he will grow and develop faster with the group.

To update on the parents - they have not spawned since the spawn recorded above.  I have not moved them nor have I changed their feeding regimen.  I haven't even seen any signs of prespawning behavior.  Not sure what is going on with this pair.

Very cool! I've noticed the same thing with juvenile clowns. They do much better in a group up until one starts to take over and dominate. When that happens I isolate the larger one.

John, I wonder if your broodstock temps may have dipped (being winter and all)?  That could certainly shut down spawning.

Guys....what about trying to feed the masago to the pair? From what I was told this will promote spawning........ right?

Matt,

That may be the case.  The only spawning fish are in different systems than the percs.  I have two pair that are going every 12 days like clockwork, but they are not in the same system as these fish.  One pair, however, is in the same room - so the ambient temp is the same.  I need to redo my broodstock styem, but I need to sell a whole heck of a lot of fish before I can do that.

Michelle,

I feed roe occasionally; but I've found that my percula aren't nearly as excited about it as my ocellaris.  Not sure why.

Thanks all,

John
