What's going on in that second photo? I see that the spine is bent a little funny, so maybe the head is turned? But then the mouth is back going the same way the spine is. And those eyes a really close together in a weird position. Did you have a cover slip over it or something?

Thanks for all the photos, BTW. Nice work.

Yeah, not sure on the spine. Did not notice till you pointed it out. Could be physical damage althought it was only transfered by water on a spoon.

The larvae was floating in a drop of water, alive. I'm guessing that the view is mainly from the bottom? Given this next photo from the top the spine maybe forced sideways a little.

Looking at larvae under the scope is new to me and not really sure on what I'm seeing.

Will keep an eye on other larvae.

Still trying to reason the bubble?
It is not there during hatching.
Read about air ingestion and swim bladder conditioning. This seems like a large bubble. Had me thinking about the previous hatch where some larvae were swimming on the bottom of the tank. Was hoping to look at both mid water and bottom dwelling larvae this spawn to see if the air was present in both but were unable to locate any on the bottom this time.
Maybe water quality or spawn condition? Accidental ingestion?

Likely the last of the egg/hatch photo's and maybe move on to rearing after the new year.
Post-hatch egg and larvae that darkened/died pre-hatch.

Made a silly error. Released some fish early from quarantine into the broodstock system.

The pair had a hydrogen peroxide bath and a freshwater dip. Will start treatment tomorrow on the whole system with either hypo or quinine.

A skin scrape did not show up much and not confident on ID of cryptocaryon but will post these.

X400 mag the first I have seen on scrapes of cryptocaryon infected fish before, the second I have no idea???

They're back

Quinine treatment for 10 days, ended due to losses from other suspected illness. All fish removed from broodstock system and treated with 2 x 3 day tank transfers with 100ppm perioxide baths for 45 min in between. Broodstock system, bleached and emptied.

New tank mates, 1 x pair of bangaii.

Same nesting acro, just whiter

I'm glad to hear that they made it through the sicknesses. Good luck getting them back to spawning.

Thanks Andy. Unfortunately while doing a precautionary 50% water change on the new system I have the feeling the female was siphoned out. Will get another during the week and put into quarantine and start again with these guys.
