Size of Individuals: Both 2 1/2"
Age of Individuals: Kept for 2 months
Date added to Tank: Added to main Reef tank December 2010 after quarantine period.
Broodstock Tank Details Size of Tank: 180 gal (6' long)
Substrate Details: 4" sand bed w/ live rock and corals
Filtration Details: dual pump sump/refugium w/ chaeto, filter box using poly and carbon pads, skimmer
Water Changes: 15 gals every 2 weeks
Water Temperature: 78-79F
Lighting: Reef lighting - G12/T5
Lighting Cycle: 14 hrs
Other Tank Inhabitants: Paracanthurus Hepatus, Holacanthus Bermudensis, Solerensis, Lyretail Anthias, Pair of Amphipiron Percula, Firefish, Spotted Mandarin, Kole Tang, 6 Green Chromis, 2 Mated Skunk Cleaner Shrimp, dwarf hermits, Mexican Turbo, Astrea snails.
Broodstock Feeding Details Food Types: Spirulina/Kelp Flake, frozen angel formula and mysis and raw table shrimp, dried algea sheets, Spectrum pellets
Feeding Schedule: Feeding from 4p-8p several times daily, earlier and more often on weekends.
Spawning Details Date of First Spawn: Unknown.
Spawn Time of Day: Unknown. Spawning is probably done in cave as I have never observed it.
Dates of Consecutive Spawns: Courtship Details: No courship observed, but the pair is always near each other except on night of hatch when one of the shrimp left it's 'home rock' in middle of tank and perched under a rock underneath the lighted larval snagger box.
Egg Size: Egg Color: Egg Count: Hatch Details Hatch Date: First hatch 12/25. Accidentally collected the larvae while expecting hatch of YWG eggs. Second hatch on 1/10.
Hatch Time of Day: After lights out.
# Days after Spawn: Unknown
Larvae Description: The larvae are clear with a white triangular 'chest'. The legs can be detected and look very similar to parents. They are attracted to light.
Larval Tank Details Temperature: 78F
Size of Larval Tank: 2 gal
Substrate Details: Small pieces of live rock rubble and chaeto.
Other Tank Decor: none
Filtration Details: air line w/o stone
Lighting: 10W CF
Lighting Cycle: 8 hrs
Water Changes: Have done no changes, but feeding of first hatch caused ammonia spike. No surviving larvae. Tank has cycled again and more copepods were added.
Larval Feeding Details Food Types: Copepods
Feeding Schedule: Feeding dead foods caused ammonia spike with first collected larvae. Tried just copepods living in the tank with next 10 or so larvae which were collected. No survivors in either case.
