Hi all, first post here.
I'm new to breeding and here was my first attempt with a wc pair of onyx clowns. There were approx. 750 eggs, but I've ended up with a little over 100 making it past meta. I think the reason why I lost so many was the water flow was too great, but I won't be making that mistake again! Here are a few pics:

Did you buy the pair just for the purpose of spawning them? Do you have any pics of the whole tank setup?

Thanks guys! I'm using a Canon T2i, usually paired with a Canon 100mm macro lens and often a Canon 430EX external flash (with diffuser).
 
And yes, I did buy the pair for the purpose of breeding. I'm a moderator on nano-reef.com and one of my friends there starting keeping a journal on his new breeding attempts and I just had to try my hand at it. This was my first attempt and I'm hooked already, lol.

I have another 10gal set up for the second pair that has not arrived yet, but I'm in the process of setting up a fishroom with a broodstock/growout plumbed system. I have a 40br tank that I'll be dividing into 2 or three sections for these spawning pairs so they'll have larger/cleaner tanks. Hopefully I can get it all set up in the next couple of months. I also have 3 square 30gal drills tanks that I can use for growouts. All these tanks will be plumbed into a 40gal tub sump with a skimmer, LR, etc. and the growout tanks will have real anemones for the juvies to host..... right now they reside in this hideous 10gal... lol:

It looks like you have a couple different types of Macro your growing in that tank with the parents. Was that on purpose?

Haha, believe me, I can't look at the growout tank very long before I go cross eyed, but there isn't much to choose from locally for anemone substitutes.
 
cmpenney: The chaeto has been growing out of the AC hob/fuge, but the ulva algae was a pleasent surprise and the red fluffy algae is a PITA that hitched in on some LR from my reef tank... I hate that stuff so much. Sigh. But the only things that eat it are mexican turbo snails and the only two I have are hard at work in my reef tank.

I like the shelving unit. Looks very sturdy and the space seems to be ideal.

lol--looks great!! I am trying to find one of those black tubs , lol.... you would think with Ocala being horse country I could find one, lol... but it has been a slow find, haha- great looking set up!

Chad: Yeah, the shelving unit is really sturday and the location is a building that was used as a computer repair shop. Bare concrete floors, air conditioner, dehumidifier, and electrical outlets every few feet halfway up the way which is really nice!

So, we have some black appearing on the juvies already! On the pelvic fins and around the headband:

Spot and at least one other fish are developing some white in front of the dorsal fins, hmmmmmm, wish they grew faster so I could see what they'll look like!:

 
The current batch of eggs might be hatching tonight, they look 'ripe' so I'm going to pull the pot tonight and see what I can do with them! Wish me luck!

So, I think I might have finally resolved a problem of having weak fry from this pair. I started feeding the parents a ton more food and the eggs appear to be healthier with each batch that is laid. I have one lone survivor from a hatch two weeks ago and now I have ~500 three day old larvae that are chowing down on the otohime A and looking great (so far), with minimal losses.. though I believe those losses mostly resulted from transferring them to the hatching tank.

At just 2 months old I'm already seeing some of the juvies from the first hatch showing onyx coloration... a lot sooner than I expected!
 

 

 
And lastly, new member of my broodstock, a sweet little snowflake male, to pair with a b&w occ female. The female was part of a spawning pair but her mate died during shipping to me a couple of weeks ago. She's not aggressive to the new guy at all and they've been curious about each other, though it's only been a day since he was added. Hopefully they pair up soon.
 

 

 

Have right under 200 babies going through meta at the moment. Head stripes started appearing on day 14 and around 1/2 of them are still without the first stripe, but shouldn't be far behind. 
 

 

 
Some of the juvies from the first batch are right around 1" already and starting on their third stripes!
And the new snowflake and the b&w are getting along really well. Pairing up nicely and they're starting to spend a lot of time in the pot together. The female has been picking at the inside of the pot and rubbing her belly on it, so that's probably a good sign.
