Thanks Tal for the help. How long until the Picasso or Platinum features are visible? One larva looks pale. I thought it just wasn't as healthy as the others. On second inspection, it might be a platinum.

They will continue to develop for a while. You should be able to pick out Plats and Picassos after another week, or two. Final coloration will take a while.

Clutch #8 Day #13 Juvenile count:20 Fairly pleased so far. All look as if they have gone through meta. Although, only 7 have noticeable first stripes. I really think at least one is a platinum but the others still look dark. If I shine a penlight in there I can see better patterns of stripes so a few other most likely will develop their first stripe soon. I just thought it odd that they aren't all more uniform by now. Looking in Wilkerson's book at her 14 days olds, mine aren't nearly as uniform or as big(from what I can tell). I will post some pictures soon and turn in my report for my first settlement . On a side note, I never thought my wife would go for the whole multi-tank syndrome. Since starting breeding I have went from one tank to about ten in a few short months. Just a funny thought. Another funny thought is I only have one spawning pair right now.....hehe. I tend to over do things. It's always better to have the tools to do the job. My second Percula pair should be spawning again soon(they had eggs when picked up from the previous owner).

I remember my question now. I put in a sponge filter yesterday. Are the bubbles/water supposed to come up and over the top of the tube? I tried it both ways(cutting a shorter tube), with the shorter tube and water bubbling up and flowing over the tube caused a ton of surface bubbles left behind. Is the tube meant to stay above the water line? And am I supposed to turn up the air so water flows over the tube? Sorry for the newbie questions, it is my first time with these sponge filters. This is what I'm using: http://www.amazon.com/gp/...r=1BCAQZCGMYXK72BESTCB

Sounds like you're doing much better. Percs do take a bit longer to stripe up than Occys so don't worry about that. With my sponge filters I keep the top of the plastic tube submerged.

The bubbles should dissipate about 2-3" from the tube. If you're getting more than that, check your ammonia and add some ClorAm-X.

Ok, is is my proof for my event report. Day #14 Is this quality and quantity good enough? Video, watch it in full screen and 1080p HD. I had to free hand it again with manual focus. Not the best, but.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9hjk7NurTU Pictures:

Just watched your video. Your 14 days old fish look like very territorial! Every time another one swim near and they scare them away. Are all picasso babies like that?

I'm not sure, this is my first batch. Although, I think they are just looking for somebody to play with.

My Picasso juveniles tend to be a bit crankier than others for a while but they mellow out.

I should have said my first "successful" time with juveniles. This is actually like my 8th attempt at raising the larva.

Settlement recap: Starting about day 12 or 13, I noticed a few larva darting about. Some appeared to race around with their heads out of the water like a boat would be sailing across the water. Further inspection revealed some pigment change in the form of their first white stripe. The juveniles will case each other around and become a little territorial. During the days12-16 I noticed a few bent tails, a sign of meta. I also witnessed, what is my opinion is, the development of at least one platinum. Photos and video are in post #128. Please let me know what other info is normally presented with settlement.

Clutch # 8 Day #17, Juvenile count:20 Still going good. Most have their first stripe. Only one or two show little signs of missing it. I think two might be plats but one of them is noticeably smaller that the others. I have them weaned onto Otohime B1 TD. I clean the bottom and do water changes(20%) every other day. Clutch #9 Day #3, Larva count: ~55 or 60. I had what seemed like hundreds a few hours after hatching. I started rotifers and greenwater about 3 hours post hatch. I woke up and only had about 60. All is going good with this batch. One thing I do notice is that 75% of this clutch seem to have reflective bellies. I'm sure there is a technical term but I'll just do my best. It seems to be reflective at any angle even with use of the normal room lights. Not sure what this means but not to many, if at all, die offs past the first 12 hours.

Sorry to keeping bumping my thread. I will start a Calender on my hard drive to keep track of my spawns. Clutch #10 spawn date 7/25/11. Seems my pair is finding their groove now. I'm running out out of larva space. Something to consider for the future fish room .

Clutch #8-day 24. Count:20 Clutch #9-day 11. count: ~50 Nobody was really in chat tonight so I'll post here. One fish from #8(day 24) looks about half the size of the others of the same age. No real bullying going on but he looks to much closer in size to my 11 day olds. He also looks to be a platinum. Shall I move him over to the tank with my 11 day olds. Clutch #9 is just starting to settle and on Otohime A. When do you start separating for size?
