Luecokranos pair - Saturday, February 19, 2011 7:23 AM

I would like some opinions on the value of a Leucokranos pair. I have the opportunity to buy a pair that have been with the same person for the past two years. I have seen pictures and the seller is a very, very reliable source.
How much would you be prepared to pay, if you knew the source was reliable, very expeienced and they had already been in a captive environment for 2 years..........?

Comments much appreciated.

If I'm going to throw a number out there, a pair is probably worth $300 to $500 USD depending on the quality of the fish...that's around what they'd go for.

ye figures.
It's very subjective though what makes a good leuc or thiellei... FWIW I am getting them anyway because I have looked for a long time for a pair.
Be intersesting to know how many of you out there have a pair, or indidviduals?

I think that your number is a little bit low Matt.  An established pair of leuks would go for twice that I'd bet without too much trouble.

FWIW. I am paying the top end of Matt's valuation. I did also ask what you would pay, not neccassarily what they might be worth.
Just need to see if I can get them to spawn, although I understand this can be very difficult.

Best of luck to you.  I hope they work out as these seem to be one of the elusive clowns that I would like to see more in the hobby.

Yes, I am excited about going to pick them up next month. They were collected in the Irian Java but he is not exactly sure of the exact collection spot. They have spawned before so I am hopeful that maybe it will be possible to breed them. They dont have an anemone to host in, but host in a large group on xenia. I don't hhave anemones with any of my clowns so I am hoping this will be ok with this pair.

Ah, you didn't say they were a "spawning pair" before.  That ups the price considerably.
