I've had these guys now for about a month. Growth has been amazing. I changed the temp a bit - bumped it to 83/84F and that has helped a TON. They constantly devour anything that gets into the tank. The male (largest) has grown nearly 1/2" with the others showing at least 1/4" or more growth. Interesting enough they have all stayed about the same size "ratio" as when they came in. What I mean by this is that there is still the Big-Bigger-Biggest between the three of them. Not really any aggression save the occasional "get out of my house" type of chasing that fish do. Still kind of shy - I think I'll throw a dwarf angel in there to see if that helps get them out a bit.

Here ends the Journal. After having these guys about three months and seeing great growth the tank crashed last night. What did it was a grey angel (about 3") who infected the tank with amyloodinium. I awoke around midnight last night to splashing - the angel was in his death spasms. I took him out and did a 15% water change. I noticed that the D. auripinnis were breathing a bit hard as well. Hoping I'd have till morning to take care of them I went back to bed. (Tank is in my bedroom). This morning when I got up the cloudy haze of death (ammonia and a huge bacterial bloom) greeted me. All hands were lost. Draining the tank this evening, and letting everything dry out to make sure the parasites are dried and gone. If anyone gets a chance to try breeding these guys, they are beautiful, beautiful fish, and well worth it. This disaster is entirely on my hands - I did a quick freshwater dip of the angel but did not QT him. Always, always, always QT your fish! Lesson learned.
