Since you have 3 together wouldn't that make the social structure a  trio? it's cool that the sub-male is so defenssive.

honestly I'm new to this, but if that's the case wouldn't it be a quad? The black is an ocellaris and can breed with them. Or would you just specifically go by color?

I didn't see the black O?  Regardless, the fact that the third ocellaris is being tolerated at all is really cool.

really? It doesn't happen much?

They've been together for well over a year. I saw last night that the third one was even around the eggs. It didn't fan them or anything, but it didn't get ran off either.

That is cool. I went to a wholesaler picking up some coral last month and there was a trio of clarkiis defending their nesting site. I went to point out a sinularia and all three swam after my  finger right away.

all the eggs were gone when I got home from work. They were there at lunch. I guess the parents cleaned them of. The female is fat again already though.

Re:Breeding Journal, Species: A ocellaris misbar - Friday, September 30, 2011 12:51 PM
I had to siphon out the eggs the day of hatching. I lost all but 7 of them. As of 09/29/11 I have 3 very healthy babies remaining. This is my first "real" run at trying to raise them to adulthood. I have the water a good green and there are tons of rotifers and a few brine shrimp in there as well. They are still darting around. Waiting to see some actual color in them, hopefully soon.

got one left. The others looked great, but perished. Here's some pics. It was the best I could get. I'll try again tonight. I can't tell if it has went through meta yet or not. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried to get a pic tonight, but nothing turned out. It looks like there is a white stripe on the head. When I can see it all the way I'll be more comfortable that it's going through meta. Thanks again Kathy!

got a better pic. I'm pretty sure that's a stripe on the head. Also, it's staying more to the bottom of the tank.

I'm going to use my kreisel this time when my batch is ready. They were laid on Sunday 10/16. I'm going to pull them out and put them in the kreisel on this coming Sunday 10/23 and see how they do. They did lay on a tile, so it's going to be much easier. No more need to scrape them off the rock.

I've been using RGComplete for greenwater in my fry tank. I think it's working out great. Anyone else do this?
