Culturing Journal DataSheet This first post should be updated regularly to include new information as events take place or changes are made to your system General Species: Nanochloripsis Species description: micro algae Culture source (link if possible ): http://florida-aqua-farms.com/secure/agora.cgi If algae, CCMP # (Optional ): http://ccmp.bigelow.edu/ Culture Establishment Date: 04/30/2011 Continuation Date: 08/25/2011 Culturing Vessel Details Salinity: 1.022 Temperature: 72F pH: 8.0 Vessel description: 2 liter bottle Lighting description: 100W CFL Lighting cycle: Continuous Aeration description: rolling bubble (4-5 per second) Methodologies Split methodology: I'm only splitting when the color is a dark green and it's a full bottle. I've lost cultures by splitting to soon and adding to much water to them. Culture medium description: Micro Algae Grow from Florida Aqua Farms 0.5mL each day for full 2L bottle Cell count: unknown Reference links: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-07/ds/ https://srac.tamu.edu/ind...et/whichfactsheet/224/ ftp://ftp.fao.org/docrep/..003/w3732e/w3732e00.pdf Additional Information (No Pictures or Videos in the Section Please) Notes: I sterilize by filling the bottle with a cap full of bleach and the rest is RO water. Rinse till the bleach smell is gone and let it dry for a day. I'm not sure why, but some of the bottles I have lost have looked great one day and turn light green, then brown, then clear. I'm dosing and adding top off the same in each bottle. Any ideas would be great! You will be required to provide photographic evidence and as much detail as possible about your project in this thread. If your thread does not contain detailed enough photos and information the MBI Council will not be able to approve your reports.
