Stick or Twist?

OK here's the dilemma. I have been searching for many years to find a Leucokranos or Thiellei pair. (We don't see them often in Europe if ever). Finally I track down a pair but the guy who owns them won't or can't confirm their status. Anway turns out they are a pair but one is a Leuc the other is a Thiellei. ( The pair in my Avatar ) Before I go on I just want to clarify the common beliefs by the most informed people I know regarding these fish, and that is; Leucokranos is a wild hybrid of Chrysopterus and Sandracinos. Thiellei is a wild hybrid of Ocellaris and Sandracinos. And therein lays my dilemma. Do I search and for how long to find either another Thiellei, or a male Leuc? Or do I stick with what I have and see if the resulting offspring can offer some real evidence as to the origins of these fish. Or I could try pairing them with a Ocelleris or sandracinos or chrysopterus. If I did have offspring there could be some genetic testing that could be done to clarify the mix of the parents, couldn't there? Im no geneticist (is that spelt right? looks weird) but I'm sure its possible. If these were you fish what would you do? Please use the poll to vote. I will go with the majority outcome if it can be achieved

I'd stick. The pair as they are are as interesting as any of the possible blue stripe, skunk or occy mixed pairs imo. But I'd keep hunting for the true pairs as well.

Seems people are reluctant to vote on this subject 71 views and only 4 votes......Hmmm. Having talked to many fishkeepers and owners of hybrids it seems that many love the hybrid clowns that are available, but don't want to come right out and say they love hybrids. Would this be a condoning something that is morally wrong, or is it just taking very closely related fish and making them more interesting? Could it be that people are concerned that they may be ridiculed for outright saying they like or want to breed hybrids? Man has always hybridised animals, so why are fish any different? I am hoping to get some comment here from some eminent breeders of hybrids and hobbyists alike. So come on guys, where's the beef?!

Thanks Chad. You have until the end of the month to change my mind regarding what to do with these fish. Whichever way it goes I absolutely love these fish and would be happy if they never spawned with any fish.....But it would be kinda cool!
