OK here's the dilemma.
I have been searching for many years to find a Leucokranos or Thiellei pair. (We don't see them often in Europe if ever). Finally I track down a pair but the guy who owns them won't or can't confirm their status. Anway turns out they are a pair but one is a Leuc the other is a Thiellei. ( The pair in my Avatar )
Before I go on I just want to clarify the common beliefs by the most informed people I know regarding these fish, and that is;
Leucokranos is a wild hybrid of Chrysopterus and Sandracinos.
Thiellei is a wild hybrid of Ocellaris and Sandracinos.
And therein lays my dilemma. Do I search and for how long to find either another Thiellei, or a male Leuc? Or do I stick with what I have and see if the resulting offspring can offer some real evidence as to the origins of these fish. Or I could try pairing them with a Ocelleris or sandracinos or chrysopterus.
If I did have offspring there could be some genetic testing that could be done to clarify the mix of the parents, couldn't there? Im no geneticist (is that spelt right? looks weird) but I'm sure its possible.
If these were you fish what would you do?
Please use the poll to vote. I will go with the majority outcome if it can be achieved
