No rotifers or pods yet so these guys are goners. I will keep a few to see how long it takes them to starve.

Once they spawn the smaller of the two is gone until the eggs hatch, I cannot see their site.  The next morning he/she reappears and starts eating again.  I am hoping to try A. tonsa on the next batch if I can get my culture numbers up and keep them alive.  

It seems these guys will starve on days 3 and 4 without food. With the bulk of them dying on the 3rd day.  I learned this with my fist batch which were no prey was added.
 
My 2nd collected batch was offered rotifers and A. tonsa in live green water. Almost all were dead on day 3 with a few still hanging on on day 4. Just looking at the larvae compared to the rotifers and I have doubts about them being able to consume the L-strain. I may try to get some of the smaller M-star rotifers and give those a try for next batch. 
 
Also die off does not seem to change with temp as I tried rearing at two different temps 74 and 80.
 
Any suggestions?

Are you still working on this theme?
I try the rainford Goby and my observations (breeding behaviour, guarding the cave ....) are quite simular to yours.

My pair still lay eggs, I am just not trying to raise them at this point.  They did eat A.tonsa. If I were doing it again I would only try to raise a hand full with a dense copepod culture. I think my major problem was to many larvae and not enough food.
