Culturing Journal DataSheet
This first post should be updated regularly to include new information as events take place or changes are made to your system

General
Species:  Apocyclops panamensis
Species description:  Pelagic cyclopoid copepod, Usually found in freshwater, but also found in brackish water in nature
Culture source (link if possible):  Another hobbyist
If algae, CCMP # (Optional):
http://ccmp.bigelow.edu/
Culture Establishment Date:  6/8/2010
Continuation Date:  8/5/2011

Culturing Vessel Details
Salinity:  1.019 - 1.050 (!)
Temperature:    70 - 75 F
pH:  Not measured

Vessel description:  Erlenmeyer flasks of various sizes, glass fishbowls, 5.5 gallon tanks, buckets.
Lighting description:  Ambient room light
Lighting cycle:  Natural daylight cycle
Aeration description:  Usually, none.  Sometimes a rigid airline with 3-5 bubbles per second.

Methodologies
Split methodology:  Pour some into another container.  If I sieve them through an 80 micron sieve, then what passes through the sieve contains many small nauplii, that will tend to mature at the same rate, over the next week or two.

Culture medium description:
I feed live Isochrysis, usually.  The culture water tends to be made up of 100% Isochrysis culture medium.  I just keep pouring off the copepods, either to split or harvest, and keep topping off with Isochrysis (or O. marina, when I'm using that).

Joe's going to be all over that one. It is a bit pricey considering it's only 156 pages...
