Cube#3Breeding Journal DataSheet This first post should be updated regularly to include new information as events take place or changes are made to your system General Species: A. ocellaris- Darwin- Cube#3 Social Structure: Previously Spawned Pair Size of Individuals: F: 4.5 inches M: 2.5 inches Age of Individuals: unknown- previous multiple spawners Date added to Tank: March 16, 2011 Background info on Fish: These fish were bought as spawning pairs we purchased from Tom Frakes. Broodstock Tank Details Size of Tank: One cube of 4ft. three cube sea clear system. Substrate Details: Bare bottom, Upgraded to 6" pots now. Filtration Details: Central, 50 gallon sump w/ 1/3 hp chiller, 57 watt UV sterilizer, ASM 5 protein skimmer and 60 lbs. live rock in sump. Water Changes: Detritus siphoned as needed and 30 gallons per week. Water Temperature: 81 deg. Lighting: 4ft. Coralife 10K t-8 bulb- single Lighting Cycle: 13 hr on/ 11hr off 8AM-9PM Other Tank Inhabitants: None Broodstock Feeding Details Food Types: Frozen Chopped krill, super brine, and mysis shrimp all Omega Sea brand. Omega Sea First Flake, Brine Shrimp Direct Flake, and Fish roe. Frozen foods are thawed and soaked with Selco. Feeding Schedule: 3-4 times per day and one weekend day only once per day. Spawning Details Date of First Spawn: 09/23/2011 Spawn Time of Day: 4pm Dates of Consecutive Spawns: 10/06/2011 Courtship Details: Male cleaned area in pot. Then female inspected area. Female starts making moves like she wants to lay eggs. Male stays nearby. Egg Size: 1.5mm Egg Color: pale orange/yellow. Lighter than standard ocellaris. Egg Count: Sloppy first nest. Lots of spacing between eggs. Looks to be approx. 150-200 eggs. Hatch Details Hatch Date: 10/16/2011 Hatch Time of Day: Approx. 10 PM # Days after Spawn: 10 Larvae Description:5mm-6mm Rather big for clowns. Very robust and active. Silver bodies with black line just above stomach area. Larval Tank Details Temperature: 80 Deg. F Size of Larval Tank: 17 gal. - Start out with 8 gallons and raise to standpipe over period of several days. Substrate Details: None Other Tank Decor: 50 watt heater Filtration Details: Central system, dripping water in at rate of 1 drop per second. Lighting: Ambient Lighting Cycle: 13hr ON, 11 hr OFF 8 AM- 9 PM Water Changes: As needed for detritus removal. Never more than 1/2 gallon at a time until fully on central filtration system. Larval Feeding Details Food Types: Type L Rotifer at 10+ per 1 ml- Greenwater to help keep rotifer fed. NHBBS <12hr old added on 5th day in small quantity. Otohime A started on day 4. Started Otohime B-1 on Day 10. Several day overlap to make sure they had all moved on to new bigger food. Feeding Schedule: Twice per day. Or as needed to keep food density proper. Metamorphosis/Settlement Date of Settlement Start: 10/27/11 Days after Hatch: 11 Date of Settlement End: 10/30/11 Description of Fry: Same as Orange Ocellaris except darker and several got mid band right away. Grow-Out Tank Details Temperature: 80 Deg. F Size of Grow-Out Tank: 17 gallon tub for first 30 days. Then on to 40 Gal Breeder Glass aquariums 36"x18"x12" Substrate Details: Bare Bottom. Other Tank Decor: None Filtration Details: Central Filtration. Skimmer, and bio balls. Lighting: T-5 fluorescent Lighting Cycle: 13hr. 7 am-8 pm Water Changes: Siphon leftover food as needed. Approx. 20% changed per week. Size at Transfer: Not transfered yet. Age at Transfer: Grow-Out Feeding Details Food Types: Otohime B-2 and C-1 Feeding Schedule: 3-4 times per day Additional Information Batch #1 09/23/2011: First spawn for us from this pair. Nest is very weak. Eggs scattered all over. Not in neat cluster. Will let this one go and wait for a better nest to be spawned. Batch #2 10/06/2011: Second spawn much better. Huge nest. Going to try and pull these and make them our next ones to raise. Estimate 300-400 eggs. Looks like about 100 or so have made it to hatch out time. Should be hatching tonight 10/16/2011. Batch #3 10/20/2011: No room. We will not pull these. Nice nest. About 125-150 left to hatch. (No Pictures or Videos in the Section Please) Miscellaneous Information: You will be required to provide photographic or video evidence in this thread of each event submitted for the MBI Program.
