This raises the question of documenting the lineage of hybrid variants again. Does anyone know if there is an off the shelf, family tree type software that could be utilised for mapping these genectic bloodlines?

There are a bunch of family tree programs, some pay, some free.  Seems the better ones are pay.  I checked a few out yesterday and I am now convinced making one for the forum shouldn't be that hard.... for someone that programs (not me)

FWIW we need something developed for Azoox.org for data collection / tank journals.  We want a standardized method of tracking azoox/nps coral and tank husbandry.
