I started this journal after catching some interesting behavior on video last night.  My other fish are hams and really like to be on camera too so they popped over to say hello

The pair is exhibiting the same behavior this evening:  cleaning and wiggling.  Am I assuming correctly that these are pre-spawning activities?  How long does this usually go on before they spawn?

Could be a couple of days... could be months.

When they are close to laying (1-7 days out) the ovipositor will come down on the female.

Yeah, that's cleaning behavior. As to how long it will take for them to spawn... it's up to them. Could be a couple of days or longer. Sorry I can't be more specific than that.
