I wanted to get this journal started because there has been alot more activity in female aggressivness, male quivering ovatures and pot cleaning occuring. This has begun within the last few days. There has always been the occasional picking at the pot, but generally this pair has been settled into their pot with the female on the inside and the male outside. The female has always been quite aggressive, but lately she has been holding on for very long periods of time. Today I observed her holding onto the male for almost a minute straight, without any damage to the male. She appears to be bloating a bit in the belly, although with the black it is a bit difficult to see how much. The male has been fullt rubbing his body against the pot (like he is intentionally scrapping) and then picking with his mouth. He is doing this behavior on the outside of the pot toward the top, while the female seems to be picking a the inside of the pot around the sides. Several weeks ago, out of frustration with all of my clown pairs doing nothing, I started feeding them heavily with Rods food. Still feeding the other supplemental feedings, but doing at least two large feedings with Rods. I have three pairs now all displaying the same behaviors. There have been no real changes in the system, with the singluar exception that there have been temp swings in the tank from season change. The temps are settling back out to their 79-80 that I normally try to hold them at.
