an interesting update on this batch:
i was able to scoop 5 or 6 larvae out of the brood stock tank where they had hatched and transfered them to a BRT.
i then pulled the pot with the remaining half of the nest and incubated in a BRT .
The following morning when i checked there wasnt any other larvae that had hatched .
suspecting fungus (even though i did a methylene blue dip and bleached the BRT before adding the nest ) i inspected the eggs and they all looked healthy !
soo back in for incubation they went .
the next morning 100% (of the remaining eggs) had hatched .
so im not sure why my pair ( whos last 3 clutches had hatched on day 8 @ 84F) gave me a batch with a split hatch 2 days apart .
1/2 on day 6
1/2 on day 8 ???
any hoo i followed kathy's advice and lowered the brood stock temp down to 82F .
we'll see what happens on the next nest . they should be spawning tomorrow .
has this happened to anyone else?
would vitamin C play any roll in this ? i have been dosing pretty heavy with it lately and adding it to the food .
its the only thing that i have done differently .
