I'd say L. boggesii due to no transverse stripe in the body and egg color (eggs look yellow/orange in the photo rather than green). Maybe Luis can confirm this or "spawner" if he is around.

I think boggessi going by dark tail and lines on the body. Are you going to attempt to raise them too? I hope so!

I just looked at Andy Rhyne's paper, and I agree they are probably L. boggessi. The tail is dark, almost blue at the tip, with 2 lobes, and there are no transverse stripes on the "back". I'm going to have to learn the names of the parts of the shrimp. Yes, I bought them with the intention of joining the fun of trying to raise them. I'll have to start with the hatch report, as one is already carrying eggs. I agree they could be not green. I've found with my camera, the color is not always true…. At this point the eggs are slightly dark, and one has them, the other doesn't.

Woohoo! I'm happy to have another person to bounce ideas off! This repeated failure gets boring by myself. HAHA! The eggs will start off greenish for the first 3-4 days or so, then they go orange/pink, then whitish, then almost silvery just before they hatch. With my shrimp they will go 10-12 days holding the eggs, and they aren't like clockwork. If they hatch 10 days from one shrimp, don't expect it to be 10 days the next time. I've missed a lot of hatches by assuming that!

Thanks Easter! I'll enjoy going through this with you and the rest of the folks going for this goal. I haven't set up my snagger yet, but i think it will be fun to try this species as I haven't done shrimps and I will enjoy the challenge. Thanks for the info on egg color and hatching time. Very helpful.

Peppermint shrimp larvae are VERY easy to catch with a snagger. It is amazing how strong their phototactic response is. If you're awake for the hatch, it is probably easier (and kinder to the larvae) to just attract them with a flashlight, and scoop them up with a beaker or whatever.

Yeah good idea Jim. My boggessi seem to hatch around 3-5 am though I'm pretty sure. I've checked as late as 1 am and found no larvae at that point (lights off is 10 pm).
