One of my customers does this sort of thing as part of their staging and equipment hire business (in Perth, Australia so not useful for this event but it should give an idea), so I had a chat to him about it.
eg. Estimated cost of production $5,000 (camera(s), mixing equipment and camera man hire, editing and DVD production)
If the comparative hotel and ticket is approx $140.00 and you are able to sell the DVD at this sort of price, then about 40 copies would need to be sold to cover costs.

By doing this as a commercial thing rather than a "I just recorded this" then you can also offer the speakers of an ongoing royalty from each unit sold plus provide some protection to the content. If the speaker is not interested in a royalty, then use the value as an investment in next years event (or this years).
Whilst I understand that its a bit of a pain in the a$$ to organise recording something like this, it is an opportunity for the breeding community out side of the Michigan to invest in the future of MBI plus support the event plus gain access to the information presented.
Obviously I cannot speak for others, but I would be more than willing to invest this sort of money for access to the presentations.
