Breeding Journal DataSheet This first post should be updated regularly to include new information as events take place or changes are made to your system General Species: Elacatinus evelynae Social Structure: a pair in 25 ltr/ 10 g tank (part of 700ltr system) Size of Individuals: 1 inch plus Age of Individuals: unknown but had been in shops tank 6 months before purchase Date added to Tank: 06.04.12 Broodstock Tank Details Size of Tank: 25 ltrs/ 10g Substrate Details: bare Filtration Details: apf 600, k1 media, filtersock Water Changes: 70 ltrs bi weekly Water Temperature: 26 degrees Lighting: twin 54wt t5 , lights the room rather then tank Lighting Cycle: 12-23.00 Other Tank Inhabitants: none Broodstock Feeding Details Food Types: Ta Aquaculture grade 3 asterisk crumb, frozen marine mix, rotis, brine & mysis Feeding Schedule: twice daily with pellet once daily with frozen Spawning Details Date of First Spawn: 10.04.12 Spawn Time of Day: 11.30 1 1/2 hours after lights on Dates of Consecutive Spawns: 22.04.12 , 03.05.12 ,13.5.12, 05.6.12 , 31.08.12 Courtship Details: I did notice them laid in the t position Egg Size: 1mm est. 5 days in and all going well, eggs are still there. adults are doing fine eating like pigs, both have massive bellies

well theve not hatched at 10 days!! but my female looks gravid to me, what do you guys think? look for the female 21 seconds in as she turns towards us, rather large belly

well all but a few clear slithers were gone this morning, which mean they hatched day 10 laid on the 10.4.12 hatched on the 21.04.12 just need the next nest now witch hopefully will be anytime soon

respawn today, and i may have disturbed them as they seem to have split the nest caught them in the act though video pics

well 7 days in and both halves of the nest are still going strong, hope i have enough rotifers!!

females gravid again!!! and expecting a hatch tommorrow night, this will be my first attempt to raise eggs ever!!!

well now starting my third attempt to raise these realised i had been using rotigrow plus to feed rotifers and for greenwater (now on omeaga) and probable too much of it going to try to be conserative with greenwater and make sure i dont over feed rotifers as well

well i have managed to hatch a small nest, and have about 20 in a brt, if there still there tommorrow then i will have broken previous attempts and got to day 4

Thanks Things I've changed this time include Raising the led Not mixing up rotigrow and omega Putting a lot less Rotifers in, at least half as many (hoping I have a gauge for the sort of density needed now) Only day four today but I've only lost one or two from this whole batch Another 26 days or so to go to meta now :-)
