Where do they go? - Wednesday, May 2, 2012 3:48 PM

Three weeks ago I brought home a new pair of Percs. The female a Platinum and the male a Picasso.
They started eating like pigs a hour after I had them acclimated. They were in a 10 gallon with a hood and and F1 filter and a HOB Penguin 150.
I have a pair of Neon Gobies in this tanks also but that's it. Three pcs. PVC for the Gobys and a 6 inch pot for the clowns.
Came home from work Monday and the Female was missing, No where in the tank , filter or anywhere on the floor. I had fed them at 4am before I went to work and 11 hours later POOF, I need the put her picture on a milk carton.
Any one have any ideas?
Thanks
Mark

Well, if she's not in the tank she was/is on the floor or a shelf.  It's amazing how far they can leap.  If you have a cat or dog maybe they had a taste for fish.  Fish are also good at hiding in the tank though!

I hate when this happens. Sometimes they're never found and it remains a mystery. They must be with all those missing socks.
Seriously though, check all of your plumbing. I had an assessor take a week to finally make it through the pipe to the filter sock.

Most of my clowns end up in the sump sooner or later.

IS the top on, on the HOB Penguin 150?  She may have jumped the tank and landed in the filter.

I had a male Onyx jump and was found 15 ft away.  They can flop around a lot and make some pretty good distance.  And they can seem to find the smallest spaces to jump through to escape.
