In the last month and a half, we have had several pairs FINALLY start spawning. We got most of our broodstock as juvi's so we could makes sure we knew what we were working with. So far the following pairs have spawned....
Naked Ocellaris- 3 times and all eaten
Melanopus- 3 times and all eaten
Ocellaris- 1 time, moved eggs to our Picasso pair to attempt fostering. They ate them, which was expected. They have never laid eggs and I would much rather them "practice" with a little more common eggs.
GSM- 1 time and they went full term and had 100% hatch rate. We did not pull the eggs or fry, we no rots ready
The nests are getting larger and tighter with the pairs that have spawned more than once. We are pretty happy to have them spawning, even if they are eating eggs......at least we know they are eating well, haha!! They will get the hang of it soon enough and then its gonna be freaking nuts. We have 15 pairs as of now and will end up with close to 30 by the end of the year, just imagine 15 pairs have the potential to lay around 20,000 eggs per month, double that when we finish expanding.......we may have to sell babies at $1 each just to keep them moving out the door
Our goal with "The Clown Factory" is simple....Raise healthy, beautiful, captive clownfish and ...his is our small part to help keep the Worlds reefs as God intended them to be.....Beautiful
