Spawning Details
Date of First Spawn:  8/5/11

Larval Feeding Details
Food Types:  L strain rotifers, rotifers fed RotiGrow Plus twice daily when in culture vessel.  Rotifers fed RotiGreen twice daily when in larval tub.
Feeding Schedule:  Rotifers added to larval tub at 8pm the first day after hatching.  Samples taken and based upon an estimate of the the concentration of rotifers in larval tub I will either add rotifers if appears to be low, or refrain from adding rotifers if the larvae cannot keep up with the rotifer production rate.  The maroons were pretty voracious, so I added rotifers on 3/5/12, 3/7/12, 3/8/12, 3/9/12, and 3/11/12 to 3/15/12 and then 3/17/12 to 3/23/12.  By 3/23/12 most of the larvae had passed through meta and I was feeding Otohime A by that time.

Metamorphosis/Settlement
Date of Settlement Start:  3/22/12
Days after Hatch:  11
Date of Settlement End:  3/25/12
Description of Fry:  Dark in coloration, many were/are misbarred.  By the time of transfer to grow-out, most of the maroons had 2-3 white stripes (or misbarred pieces of white stripes).  These are the most belligerent fry I have ever raised - far more aggressive than either melanopus or frenatus.  They are constantly fighting and subsequently I have several with pieces missing from their tails.

Grow-Out Tank Details

Temperature:  78 F
Size of Grow-Out Tank:  20 gallon high
Substrate Details:  bare bottom
Other Tank Decor:  none
Filtration Details:  central filtration with bioballs, algal turf scrubber, carbon, HSA 1000 skimmer
Lighting:  ambient room lighting from shop lights
Lighting Cycle: 14 hours on, 10 hours off (reverse photoperiod on at 8pm, off at 10am)
Water Changes:  15% monthly
Size at Transfer:  5-6 mm
Age at Transfer:  30 days post hatch

Grow-Out Feeding Details
Food Types:  BSD Mariner plus
Feeding Schedule:  2-3 times daily

Additional Information

(No Pictures or Videos in the Section Please)
Miscellaneous Information:
These fish are in grow-out along with a batch of A. percula which are a month older.  If the percula were the same size as the maroons I have no doubt that the maroons would have largely killed them or maimed them by now.  I may have to spread the maroons across several grow out tanks to prevent them from completely killing each other and ganging up on any non-maroon clowns in grow-out.

You will be required to provide photographic or video evidence in this thread of each event submitted for the MBI Program.
If your thread does not contain these photos the MBI Committee will not be able to approve your reports. PHOTOS AND VIDEO S MUST BE PLACED IN ADDITIONAL POSTS, NEVER IN THE FIRST POST IN A JOURNAL.

3/11/12 Here is what is left of the nest right before pulling it.  This pair spawned 12 times before any eggs made it to the day of hatch.

Very nice! Excellent pictures of the larvae. Interesting that several have the same little spot.

Thanks Daniel and Cableguy,
Papa maroon had the dots when I got him too, but they went away after a few months.

Any tips on how to keep these guys from nipping each other to death?  I can't find a single one without a torn fin...

These are extremely aggressive fish and I am having a difficult time housing them together.  On 6/8/12 I moved the 5 largest maroons to five separate tanks (with other grow-out clowns) to see if I can prevent the destruction of the smaller maroons.  Hopefully the 5 largest maroons won't go on a killing spree in my B&W grow- out tanks.  Will update on how this "experiment" goes.
