Hi Shaun
Ok, I understand your question, both Larvae ar the thame age, newly hatched.
The "brighter" larvae (koumansetta) swims in deeper water,  it´s nearer to the lense of the mikroskop, and has a bigger distance to the marks of the ruler, so it seems to be bigger. The pic of the dark larvae (Koumanssetta) was taken with an olympus E-620 with macro lense, in a drop of water direkt on the ruler
hope you will understand, what i try to explain ... very bad english

Ok, my forecast was right, the have hatched last night.
BUT, I was not at home, so I don´t caught any

The important thing is: This event is reproducible, this is one condition for any attempts

Ok, I have a new hatch.
My fish don´t care about dezimal points, comma or date formats. They are quick. Faster than the MBI to aprove or deny reports
More Information tomorrow ( aktually its 2:06 in the night)
Good night

What everybody had suggested, comes true: They are to small to eat "normal" rotifieres. The video compares the new born larve with the rotifieres
and of course, one more pic from last night. Now they are, 17h old, a lot of swimmers. This time in a black bucket (5l) with a lot of Phyto and rotifieres

 and the Video:http://youtu.be/K6Y8qEJ4QHc

Maybe my starving experiment from the first run was wrong. Now they live over 22 hours and they are still alive (quite a lot).
Ok, this time I use the black bucket and much more Phyto (Nanno and a big shot of phycopure) The hole day i gave little amounts rotifires but they don´t eat. I checked it under the Mikroskope: The bellys are emty.
Lars

PS. Just discoverd the breeding journal of wdt (k. hektori) the observations are quite the same.

The second day is almost over (46 h) and there are still a lot of survivors
I´m very happy (or satisfied ??-- language problems ) with my small BRT.
Phyto dense ist high, I can see 10 cm deep, 24h lights are on.
Of course there are a few dead larvae, but the most are still alive

A lot off dead fish, but some are still alive
Last night i had a hatch of my occis (Darwin). I didn´t collect them, but in the morning I put a dead occi larvae together with a rainfordi into a petri dish and made a Video : http://youtu.be/LDVcIob4jtg

Wow, that size comparison is something else!  The first eggs I ever hatched were Dottybacks, and after that I thought Clownfish larvae were huge.  It looks like the Rainford's Goby larvae are smaller yet!
Don't let fear and common sense stop you! =]

Hi Mindy
Yes I think you´r right, they are smaller than dottybacks. I bred assessors and they are  also bigger than the rainfordi
The third day is nearly over and there are some survivors left. But now I have to stop the airflow and have to search with a torch to see some aktiv swimmers

Ok, Game over!
I can´t see any moving larvae.
But I´m not disappointed with this first run. I´ve got  experience and some nice pics.

I'm sorry that you lost them all, Lars, but thank you for the very good information. I like your video. I worked with sixline wrasse larvae for a while and then took a break to raise some A. percula and that was my first reaction. "These larvae are huge!"

Too bad that they aren't taking rotifers but it's not surprising given their size. I hope you can find some smaller food for them.

Thanks Andy,
Yesterday, when I checked the Water of the bucked with the pitcher I discoverd few more or less "alive " larvae..
The male is hiding in the cave again, but i haven´t see any clutch yet.
I think I ´ll skip it this time.
