Feeding baby Bangaii baby Clownfish
-
Wednesday, July 4, 2012 3:07 PM
Ok, first time posting! I haven't posted a thread for my victories, but i recently got my first ocellaris to 60 days! Shortly after, my Bangaii male who holds til the end(meaning, he releases after they are formed) was ready to go. I stripped his mouth of young, transfered them to a six gallon and began feeding copepods collected from a live rock tank at work. At the same time, the ocellaris pair spawned again and it hit me. Hatch the larvae in tank with the Bangaii babies I remembered two things: Rich Ross mentioning using newly hatched clowns as food for young cuttlefish. And One of the Matt's talking about how the last thing we need is another Clownfish breeder. So, the Clownfish began hatching bit by bit, Saturday through Tuesday, and these are some fat fat Bangaii. Day 8-9(cardinalfish age) is when the clowns hatched and they had zero trouble handling the Clownfish prey. The biggest issue is keeping dead Clownfish off the bottom, keeping up water changes to prevent ammonia spikes, but so far so good. Thanks for listening! James
