Time for a male to a female?

I don't know if this has been talked about, but does anyone know how long it actually takes for a full male to become a egg laying female?
 
I had a pair of clowns, older, I'd say around 6-8 years. Female died, male was alone for about 1 month. I was given an adult male from a fellow hobbyist about a month ago (I'll have to check exact dates) and I found fresh eggs today. I don't know if this is their first as I really haven't been watching.
 
This seems VERY quick, but obviously it is possible. Anyone have any hard dates on how long it takes a clown to change sexes?
 
I'll be posting a journal with pictures of the eggs in the next day or so.
