We noticed the spawn on 23 Jan 2013.  When watching the shrimp you can see he/she fan the pleopods periodically to aerate the eggs.I will try to catch him/her in about a week to hatch in a kreisel fishbowl.  I don't know if capture is possible.

The eggs don't show well in photos.  But you can see a mass where the shrimp should be slender.

Can you get any better pictures of the eggs?

The larvae are extremely positively phototactic, and they hatch shortly after lights out.  This makes them extremely easy to snag with a larval snagger, or even just to scoop out of the tank, if you turn the pumps off and attract them with a flashlight.

Be advised, though, that they have an VERY LONG pelagic phase, and are notoriously difficult to raise to settlement.  You might want to check out the paper that Andy Rhyne co-authored that you can find here:  http://www.aquariterranee...odcrustaceanlarvae.pdf

I will try for some more photos tomorrow.  He/she  spends most of its' time under a large mushroom coral.  Thanks for the link.
