Nesting sites

Do clownfish have maximum distance that they will go from their anemone to where they choose to nest?  My cinnamon clowns have recently(last 2-3 months) adopted a colony of RBTA in the middle of my reef tank.They used to inhabit one corner and that is where their flowerpot is. The nem is about 18" fom their pot. Their last nest  was on a piece of coral skeleton within reach of the nem. And I mean within reach.  Do the eggs have the same protection from anemone stings that the fish have?  The nest on the coral seemed to dwindle faster than the nests in the pot.

I can't answer all of your questions, but I can say that my A. ocellaris eggs to seem to be "immune" to stings from the RBTA near them, as far as I can tell.

My experience is that the spawn site will be quite near to their hosting site. My pair spawned multiple locations over time as their anemone moved.

+1 on they lay eggs near the hosting site. The last pair of Ocellaris laid their eggs in the middle of an algae patch that they used as their host.

I suspended a broken pot on the back wall near their anemone and today they spawned on the new pot shard.  I can safely take out their old pot now.  And I now have another spot in the tank for coral colony.
