I ran across this clip and wondered what variety this clownfish is.  It is in the wild, in the Philippines.  You can see a shadow of the stripes, but the fish is blue or black.

They are maroons,perhaps melanic.Interesting

I was thinking the same thing. Just didn't have the word for it. Seemed very Maroon'ish.

This is simply what happens to OLD maroons.  Not melanistic..just old.  The "Labrador" maroon that Frank Wotruba gave me for the Lightning Project at times looked just like that.  Was a very old white stripe.
