What temp to run your broodstock tank
-
Monday, August 5, 2013 12:59 PM
What temperature do you all run your clownfish broodstock tanks? I'm wondering if mine is too cold (77 F) and might be causing a lot of my problems with low hatchrates and early die off. Thanks

My systems are run at 80-82F. Running at a cooler temp will slow the development of the eggs.

Thanks, I'll be raising my temp tonight and see if that helps.

80-82F here too. Sometimes I will spike up to 85F to try to induce spawning.

I have had some success using temperature to induce spawning, but only under some circumstances, such as: 1) The fish are well mature. 2) The fish are "fat". 3) The fish have previously spawned, but are in a hiatus. 4) Black worms are added to the diet.
