Are these nassarius sp egg(s)? - Saturday, August 17, 2013 1:13 PM

I have some snail eggs that are different to ones I have seen before.
There are a couple of species of snails in the tank, Turbos, Astria, Trochus, Strombus, Stomatella and nassarius sp.

If anyone can suggest a culprit that would be great, I think that they are nassarius as the adults have been climbing on the glass in that area for the last couple of days in pairs.

The eggs are spread along the glass, approx 1cm above the sand line in the tank.  There are 10-15 patches of eggs, with between 20 and 100 per patch at a rough estimate.
The eggs are approx .1-.2mm in diameter.

The first two pictures are of the same group of eggs.  The third picture is of another group.

I don't think nassarius spawn in that type of pattern but the pics are great!

Cool eggs man! I don't know what species that could be, I agree with tal though, not nassarias, that might be astreas though. They were breeding in my 55g when I had that set up and the egg masses look similar to yours.

More development on these guys.
In the video I mention that some of the eggs look unfertilised.  On looking at the GIF of the photos, some of the clear eggs that I thought were unfertilised are also moving, so im guessing that these have been laid at different times.

The only animals that I have seen in the area of these eggs are the Nassarius snails.  As Im posting this four separate snails are at the glass near one or more batches of the eggs.

Not the best photo, but I think I just caught a pair of snails in the act of laying some eggs.
As soon as I put a light on them, one left and the other remained.

These two were about 20cm from where the other batches of eggs start.  I checked about 2 hours ago and the short side of the tank did not have any eggs.  There are now three batches.

I dont know what them laying looks like, so this may still be a case of them just being there after the eggs have been laid.

Anyway, here is the photo

I know its quite blurry, but its night here and it was only the flash on my phone.  The eggs are near the snails foot (?) on the glass to the right and about 5 or 6 under the foot.
