With a few month of delay here is my answer: In one of my clowns pair this happens abaut every 100/200 fish aprox. I had 4 of them. I sold 2 of them and paired the others. They were abaut 5/6 cm and died is a power outage  Mine only had the spot in the center. Very lovely fish. Julio

One doubt abaut this: - How do you fix a particular pattern? If I have 2 "dotted" ocellaris should I breed with each other or mix with new blood to avoid problems with brothers? Julio

Hello Julio, I still have that fish pictured, although much bigger now. It had a small defect on its gill, so I never gave it away. At any rate, I've since learned that the spotted ones are most likely due to poor quality in water or diet. I don't think the babies will come out spotted, should you pair them up. If you find out something different, I'd love to hear about it. Take care, r/ mike

It is possible it is water quality. The ones I had were in a batches with 20/30% misbar (regular and misbar parents). Now I can´t find another and the misbars I have are almost all regular ocellaris. It is a shame both I had died in a power outage... Julio

Not sure if you are referring to his gil or the markings.. I had two in my first sucessful batch to get flared gills at a very early age like three months old. I have been told on my threaf in another forum water quality and diet but more so in the water.. And 90% of my batch ended up as misbars.

My intent was to question the misbar. I didn't notice the gill back then, but it is some type of defect. I still have that fish, and he's (it) doing fine. Thanks for your post. r/ mike

You said you still have that fish and is doing fine the one with the gill problem in the picture? I have been told to flush mine that I can't sell them and I can't bring myself to doing that. Are you breeding that fish? If so how are the fry turning out?

That guy is living in my office aqaurium with 13 others, and is doing fine. I don't plan on breeding it, but if something were to happen, I'd cross that bridge when I got there. As long as I have the means, I'd never flush a living, eating fish down. But this is a hobby for me, so others could take a different view on things. Take care,
